I enjoyed working with the team at CNY Works. I had just moved to Syracuse, and needed to get a job quickly. My adviser, Jean, was very helpful and understanding of my many quirks. She got me enrolled in refresher classes in Microsoft Office Suite, and I learned quite a bit more than I already knew. Our tutor, Jane, was very helpful and supportive.The center works with the Department of Labor to host Job Fairs every month, and will work with individual employers to do special job events. Although it is not a job placement agency, it helps you learn, develop or upgrade your skills in order to be able to apply for good jobs. Also, you get very good assistance on upgrading your resume. I know that once I took Jean's advice, the invitations to interview began to come in.The CNY WORKS website is a fantastic resource for all job seekers, offering access to job boards, and insights on which jobs will be most relevant in the years to come. They also list the top employers in the region, so you already know where the jobs are.I believe that the moral support I received from the Center team members, and from my fellow job seekers, was instrumental in giving me the confidence to step out and get that job.
