Overall Feedback:
The IRS placed liens against my husband and I for not submitting our returns. The balance the IRS had for taxes, penalties and interest were astronomical fees. We tried to get it resolved with the first CPA who had filed our past due returns and got us current but could not get them to negotiate the total they wanted us to pay for penalties and interest. We tried with Taxpayer Advocate Service and they were also unsuccessful. Then we went with a tax attorney, Jeffrey Gartzman of Gartzman Tax Law. We spent more on his fees that would have taken care of our balance the IRS demanded we owed. We had an appointment scheduled to discuss an Offer in Compromise with the IRS. He and his staff showed up very late, the IRS agent came out to call us into the meeting three different times and they were not there. We had never met any of them, only spoke on the phone with his employees and after that meeting, (actually, DURING that meeting), we realized he could not represent us, he didn't know any of our circumstances so how could he understand them! It was disastrous. The agent was as disgusted with his representation and she closed the meeting by saying we needed to get together with him again to try to figure out what we needed and how to present it. I called his office later and the receptionist took my call. I explained to her the things they did not address, and what he did address was wrong and that ALL of the subjects were mishandled, including their arrival time. She said, "well, you know - traffic." Yes, we did know traffic and that's why we were there on time. We received a great deal of advertising from businesses offering their service to resolve our case and I kept all of them. After failing with the other firms, my husband and I looked over each of them and we decided Ms. Johnson's firm looked the best. And they WERE THE VERY BEST! She got it settled for $2600. The IRS had our balance at $32,500 and state was $9159. We didn't have to pay the state any money at all. What a great job they did. Her staff is the best. Knowledgeable and courteous, excellent presentation from all of them. I highly recommend them.
