Overall Feedback:
I met with Mr. Helmer after being charged with a misdemeanor in Pennsville. He did a great job of explaining the charges and that I would likely receive the conditional discharge program due to my clean record. He mentioned how much it would cost me and said his assistant would prepare the paperwork. Well, they hand me the paperwork and try to rush me for my signature. I sat there to read everything over and realize that the fee listed was about $400 more than the amount he had stated. I questioned it and the assistant began describing the extra fees, expungement fees, etc. I got up and asked her to shred the document in front of me and never contacted them again. I honestly felt as though they told me a number in hopes that I wouldn't read the entire agreement and how much I would truly owe.I ended up paying a couple hundred for a public defender who was able to do exactly what Mr. Helmer claimed he could.
