I was referred to the firm by a friend to handle my divorce, and readily agreed to pay $200 for an exploratory initial session. I was ready to move forward, but then noticed that they require two attorneys to be present on any trial date. When I pushed back on this policy, which my lawyer friends suggests is highly unusual for family law, and questioned the experience of the attorney that was assigned to me (which was three years overall, but little to no trial experience), they dropped me like a hot potato. If you have this kind of approach, running a firm with a bunch of junior attorneys, thus offering below market rates, that's fine, but be upfront about your fine print.
