I responded to an ad on Facebook for a 2 day inventory project on Facebook. It was approximately 230pm on a Friday when I called and spoke to a lady. She told me the address and time for Sunday night and since it was so late in the day, to bring 2 forms of ID to her on Monday. I show up at the address, sign in and am handed a pay card. I mentioned to the person who handed me the card that I was told to bring 2 forms of ID Monday morning and asked her the address. I am still at this point unaware this is for a temp agency. I have never worked for a temp agency and furthermore I have no idea how they operate. She said if I have the 2 forms of ID with me then she will take a photo of them and save me a trip. I hand her my driver license and social security card, she takes a photo, and I take them back. I work through the night. The next morning I get a call saying I need to be there by 1 to complete my paperwork and orientation. It's 12 noon and I live at least an hour from their office. I am told the paperwork process takes 4 to 5 hours, which I found to be ridiculous. At my "real" job, I have FBI background checks done and the hiring process didn't take that long. I have to be at the same location that evening for the second and final shift of the project. I work that night. Long story short, I continue to get nonsense excuses, blamed for their incompetency, lied to about their obvious mistakes, and still--3 going on 4 weeks later--have received 1 cent from them. I didn't know this was a temp agency and I had no intention of working for a temp agency. Their practices border on predatory and the staff I have interacted with are inconsistent with their information, have completely inaccurate recollections of events (i.e., they lie), are rude and condescending, and apparently incompetent at their jobs as evidenced by 1. allowing a worker to report to a site without completing the required documentation first, and 2. lying about what was said, what was done, and when I would be paid. Still waiting for the money that is owed. I have contacted the Dept. of Labor.
