Overall Feedback:

I had a first time meeting with the CPA Mr. John Mastrangeli to talk about tax options for a corporation. There were no payment options agreed upon and I was told the first meeting is simply an introduction. Towards the end of our 1 hour meeting, I was told there is a $220/hour consulting fee (which was bargained to $175/hour). I paid $175. I am upset because I was never made aware of the hourly rate prior to my appointment and would not have agreed to the meeting had I known this beforehand. I have met with other accountants who have told me that they would charge $175/hour to proceed if I would like a detailed tax prep session but Mr. Mastrangeli performed this without my specific asking to do so and then charged me $220. To be fair, the information was helpful and he is personable - I am disheartened at the surprise fee and 'sneaky' tactic because I do recommend this firm from a strictly tax perspective. I recommend in the future that the business clearly state their fees beforehand and as a consumer, to ask what the fees are. I did not ask because I was specifically told there would be no fees for the first meeting.
