I have been volunteering at Refugee Career Hub (formerly Cafe Clarkston) since 2014 . It is such a rewarding experience. I have interacted with clients from all over the world, including Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Nepal, Burma, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and others. I enjoy giving our clients helpful information regarding the workforce and even anything regarding life. I've discussed drivers licenses, emailing, educational goals, networking, communication, job etiquette and have even had some personal conversations with our international clients. I've even developed a few relationships. The greatest reward is not just finding our clients jobs, but EMPOWERING them to succeed. To make wise decisions and encouraging them to actively pursue their goals, whatever they may be. Being a volunteer at Refugee Career Hub has its challenges, but the dynamics are very personal to me. I myself have been employed at several jobs due to "knowing the right people." Many people have jobs due to successful networking. I understand the value of having the proper connections in the workforce. I see my time at the Career Hub as an opportunity to give back. To help them achieve because others have helped me.
