As a small business owner, we sought professional advice from a company we thought were pros and knew the life and struggles of small business owners. We asked Apple Valley Accounting & Tax to do our business taxes for us, for the first time. Up until that point we'd done our own taxes successfully, but the complexities of having just incorporated seemed like we needed help with taxes this year.The first time they showed us what we would owe for taxes between state and federal, it was north of 10K: a shocking number us since we'd been paying quarterly taxes all year and kept excellent records of everything. We asked them to take another look because it seemed wrong, but they didn't. So we went and found their mistake ourselves. Their mistake? They didn't even factor in our quarterly tax payments at all into the formula which obviously lead to the numbers being so off, a simple mistake but a huge one that could have cost us thousands of dollars.Here's the worst part about Apple Valley Accounting & Tax: we understand that mistakes will be made, when you force us to find your mistakes that could have cost us thousands of dollars, and then you refuse to even apologize or admit fault but rather silently correct the return without even acknowledging anything wrong was done, it's not the right way to do business. The worst part is that you still had the gall to charge us $700+ even when we ended up doing the job we thought we'd be paying you to do.
