I have been with Valley Community Services going on 9 years, and I have to say I love my job. There are never 2 days that are the same, and you get to make a difference in peoples lives every day, which is very humbling and rewarding in itself. Here’s my story summed over the past 9 years with this great agency. I started out as a DSP and learned every aspect of the job that I could because I had a goal in mind of moving up within the agency. I asked my manager then to start teaching me some managerial responsibilities, which she did, and then a Program Lead position became available and I received it, then after about 2 years working as a Lead, a Managed position became available at the home I was a DSP at, I applied and received that position as well, during this time I was given a lot of support from the main office, during times I needed it. After about 2 years of being a manager, a Program Specialist position became available at the Day Program in Bedford, so I applied and received that position as well. I learned the job of a Program Specialist because my training and support was excellent. I worked at the Day Program for about 2 years, and a Director position became available (which was my ultimate dream job with Valley,) I applied and was selected for the position. I work for a great company, and over the past 9 years that I have been employed by Valley Community Services I have to say the administration has been there for me through so much in my life, both work related and non-work related. The agency is continually improving education of all the employees and supporting everyone no matter what position you hold. If you’re eager to learn, eager to help others, and want to work for a company that is excellent to work for, then this is the agency for you.
